Over the weekend Scott and I celebrated our 6th anniversary. Don't worry, I won't bore you with all the mushy, gushy details, instead you get to hear about The Time Someone Scared the Crap Out Of Me.
I ran to the store for a couple groceries before our date night. Like any other normal trip to for groceries, I unlocked the car, loaded the bags in, entered my door, put my keys in the ignition and....saw something out the corner of my eye. I nearly had a heart attack when I looked up an saw a Read more [...]
I went through a phase in my life as a teenager that I hated Hawaiian Haystacks. I thought it was a strange and gross meal that was basically flavorless chicken gravy on some rice. So I boycotted the dish for years. Eventually, I stumbled across a recipe for the chicken sauce made from scratch. Of course I tried it and I was hooked on Haystacks again. I've altered the recipe slightly to fit my tastes and to serve a crowd. The instructions list this recipe as making about 9 cups. It made enough Read more [...]
Sometimes I get on food kicks. Some people call them cravings but I call them food kicks. However, usually I get a craving, and then it turns into a food kick and I have to make it several times in a short amount of time. My latest food kick is Buffalo Chicken. For some reason the spicy, creamy, full of flavor chicken just keeps calling my name. I was so thrilled when I made this for dinner during the Superbowl and now I'm craving it again.

How about a quick & easy, thirty minute meal, that's packed with flavor? Marinated Teriyaki Chicken with Pineapple Ginger Rice. Even my picky three year old son loves this chicken! And the rice too, probably because it has pineapple in it. I love when I create food that my toddler will eat. We're working through all the fun, picky eater, rather play than eat, won't eat much dinner, stages with him. It can be very frustrating. So when I find something healthy that he eats several portions Read more [...]
So I have to be honest, I am quite tired of having sick kiddos. We have lived in Idaho for 4 weeks now and my kids have been sick 3 different times. If you do that math, that's being sick almost every week. Not only do I feel bad for my babies in seeing them miserable, I'm tired, worn out, exhausted, and ready to get out of the house and play with some friends. I think we may have to do some major cleaning today to try and disinfect their rooms so these germs don't keep going around and around.

This is my all time favorite soup.
As a kid it was my favorite soup.
As an adult, it is still my favorite soup.
Earlier this week, I asked my husband what I should call this soup since we've referred to it as both "stew" and "soup." Our conversation became a discussion of attempting to define stews, soups, and chili. We both agreed that stew implies some sort of thickish base and big hunks of potatoes, carrots, and steak. Soup has more of a thin, brothy, base, and can be chunk-free, Read more [...]
If you've ever visited or lived in Utah, you know what Wingers restaurant is. If you've ever tried their classic, original, wings, you know what this sauce tastes like. This recipe is all over the place but originally for me, it came from a friend of mine who is from Utah. I don't know who came up with the first original, or if it was given out by Wingers, but it's a pretty common recipe.
This is one sauce that is straight up perfect without my own changes or flair. Every once in awhile Read more [...]
