How about some homemade Buttermilk Syrup to go with the WafflesI just posted? I have a deep and abiding love for Buttermilk Syrup. It smells delicious. It tastes delicious. It comes together in about 15 minutes (most of which you're waiting for it to boil). In addition to the love I have for this syrup, I have a major weakness too. It's called: "Always Wanting to Drink the Syrup Out of a Cup." I am telling you, you can't just eat the waffles with the syrup on top and be satisfied. This is a Read more [...]
It's breakfast time here on Dish Up Delish! My hubby will be one of the first to tell you that breakfast is my favorite meal of the day. I could eat pancakes, scrambled eggs, bacon, waffles, orange juice, muffins, omelets, cinnamon rolls, quiche, and waffles all day long. For every meal. I get really excited when we stay at hotels because there is an endless supply of breakfast food. Granted, it's usually not that amazing unless we stay at the Marriott or Grand, which has never happened. It can Read more [...]
I will be the first to admit that I do not consider myself a baker. While I love consuming baked goods I would rather whip up a sauce from scratch or create a yummy marinade. Every once in awhile, I succeed with a baked good and get excited about sharing it. This bread is one of those cases. The first time I made this bread it was delicious. Each time I made it I changed it ever so slightly and it just got better.
Then I actually baked the bread in loaf pans like it's supposed to baked and Read more [...]
Things are settling down and cranking up for us around here these days. We're finally getting into some routines, making some friends, and building our life here. As for my husband's Chiropractic practice, things are slowly but surely falling into place. He is doing a health and wellness series of classes at the YMCA in March and has another really exciting opportunity coming up the first week of March. I can't wait to share more about it but I don't want to say anything until it's finalized!

I went through a phase in my life as a teenager that I hated Hawaiian Haystacks. I thought it was a strange and gross meal that was basically flavorless chicken gravy on some rice. So I boycotted the dish for years. Eventually, I stumbled across a recipe for the chicken sauce made from scratch. Of course I tried it and I was hooked on Haystacks again. I've altered the recipe slightly to fit my tastes and to serve a crowd. The instructions list this recipe as making about 9 cups. It made enough Read more [...]
Sometimes I get on food kicks. Some people call them cravings but I call them food kicks. However, usually I get a craving, and then it turns into a food kick and I have to make it several times in a short amount of time. My latest food kick is Buffalo Chicken. For some reason the spicy, creamy, full of flavor chicken just keeps calling my name. I was so thrilled when I made this for dinner during the Superbowl and now I'm craving it again.
The beauty of this Buffalo Chicken Dip Read more [...]
How about a quick & easy, thirty minute meal, that's packed with flavor? Marinated Teriyaki Chicken with Pineapple Ginger Rice. Even my picky three year old son loves this chicken! And the rice too, probably because it has pineapple in it. I love when I create food that my toddler will eat. We're working through all the fun, picky eater, rather play than eat, won't eat much dinner, stages with him. It can be very frustrating. So when I find something healthy that he eats several portions Read more [...]
As I'm sure you've already heard, and perhaps you're tired of hearing, we've had our fair share of sickness around the house. We moved here to Idaho at the end of December, and since then, my boys have been sick three times. When I say sick I mean more than just a little sniffle. Blake is overly prone to getting the croup. Every time he get any sort of cold or cough, it settles right in his voice box and he gets the croup. It's terrible. He panics because he feels like it's hard to breathe Read more [...]
I really like keeping promises that I make, and I made a promise a couple days ago that I would share this cake recipe soon, so here I am, keeping my promise. I'm pretty nice like that. Most days. Let's have a chat about this cake. First of all, Velvet Cake. Why am I calling it Velvet Cake? Well, you see, normally one might call it Red Velvet Cake. However, this is one of my wonderful Grandmother's recipes and she was not a food dye person. I don't know that she ever made this cake using Read more [...]
So I have to be honest, I am quite tired of having sick kiddos. We have lived in Idaho for 4 weeks now and my kids have been sick 3 different times. If you do that math, that's being sick almost every week. Not only do I feel bad for my babies in seeing them miserable, I'm tired, worn out, exhausted, and ready to get out of the house and play with some friends. I think we may have to do some major cleaning today to try and disinfect their rooms so these germs don't keep going around and around.
